International Women’s Day - 8th March

Everything starts with an activity in class… “Say writers’ names”. The answers are many but… ALL OF THEM MEN. We go on. “Now say women writers’ names”. It’s more difficult but the students manage to give some examples. We go on. “Names of painters”… One more time, ALL OF THEM MEN. “And what about if now you say women painters”… It’s almost impossible to think of an example… Maybe Frida Kahlo.

Why is it so difficult to think of examples of women in different fields? The answer is simple: we don’t have models.

That’s the reason for this activity. The students from different levels and subjects have looked for women in different fields: science, maths, literature, sports, arts, music, cinema… And they have made the posters shown in the corridors of the school.

And now a gymkhana is ready!

International Women's Day

Spelling Aution

We created a kind of a game to play with the 1st year of ESO students. It consists on a "Spelling Auction". We divide the class in groups of three or in pairs, depending on the number of students. We give each group 100$ to bet. The minimum bet is 10$ and the maximum is 100$. We show them a presentation and they have to decide if the sentence in each slide is correct or not and if it isn’t, they have to give the correct version. They bet in each case and if they win they will get as much money as they have bet and if they are wrong, they lose their money.

It was fun! And they enjoyed it a lot. It kept them engaged all the class and they even asked for more!
